East Coast Bakehouse is delighted to be attending Bloom in the Park this June Bank Holiday Weekend (1st June – 5th June). Come by and visit us at our stand in the Love Irish Food marquee (beside the Cooking demonstration in the food village) where you can sample and buy our delicious biscuits and cookies – all lovingly baked, using pure Irish butter, in Drogheda.

This is the 11th year of Bloom and there are wonderful show gardens, food stalls and cookery demonstrations to visit, as well as lots of fun things to keep the kids occupied.

Every day we will be giving you a chance to sample our biscuits and by giving us your views, you will be in with a chance to win a wonderful picnic hamper.

We look forward to welcoming Cathy McKenna, winner of the Great Irish Bake-off, who will be giving a baking masterclass on stage on Monday 5th June (10.30 am) and will be at our stand all day to help answer your baking questions.

Cathy MacKenna gives a Masterclass in Baking at East Coast Bakehouse

On Friday 19th May, East Coast Bakehouse opened its doors to 20 lucky winners who were treated to an afternoon of baking, tasting and sampling.


The group were welcomed by our Director of Marketing & Innovation and Dragon’s Den Investor, Alison Cowzer. A brief factory tour with brought the group back to our Innovation Centre for some of our yummy biscuits were enjoyed.

Cathy MacKenna, winner of the Great Irish Bake-oo, demonstrated two great biscuits recipes – Chocolate and Vanilla Pinwheel Biscuits and Viennese Whirls, which you can try yourself on our recipes page, and had shared lots of baking tips and hints.

East Coast Bakehouse’s New Product Development Manager, Gemma Flynn, also provided some baking secrets before taking our consumers through a taste test of some biscuits she’s working on.

As one of the lucky winners told us “many thanks for the most enjoyable day on Friday. We really loved today and of course the biscuits. Cathy was the icing on the cake for me. She really knows her subject.”

Drogheda Young Innovators at the Bakehouse

East Coast Bakehouse welcomed Drogheda’s finest youngest innovators to our Bakehouse on Friday 12th May, with twenty shortlisted projects from the original 100 applications presented on the day.

“I am extremely impressed by the innovation on display today across all three categories. The standard is very high, and I can see how the judges had an extremely difficult process to pick the winners. Based on the level of innovation displayed, Drogheda’s future is very bright”, commented Alison Cowzer, our Director of Marketing & Innovation and Dragon’s Den investor.

The overall winner was Blathnaid Murphy, a student at Our Lady’s College Greenhills, who impressed judges with her business, “Daisy’s Pawsome Bowties”. Blathnaid, at twelve years of age, is the youngest winner of the DYI competition.

Prizes were also awarded in each of the three categories (Science/Technology, Business, and Social Enterprise) for both individual and team entries. This is the fourth year of the awards which focus on all aspects of Innovation and the second year the final has been held in East Coast Bakehouse’s Innovation Centre.

Tennant & Ruttle Announced as Distributor Partners for East Coast Bakehouse

East Coast Bakehouse and Tennant & Ruttle are very pleased to announce a new partnership for the Sales, Marketing and Distribution of the East Coast Bakehouse and Oh My! brands in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. This will commence on Monday 10th April 2017.

East Coast Bakehouse launches 4 SKUs in Everyday Category

East Coast Bakehouse is pleased to announce the launch of four new biscuit SKUs to join our recently launched cookie range which launched in September 2016.

Bringing innovation to the plain sweet biscuits segment, East Coast Bakehouse is launching two SKUs – Crunch’ems Coconut Crunch and Crunch’ems Ginger Crunch (12 x 215g, RRP €1.90). While in the half-coated segment, Crunch’ems Milk Chocolate Enrobed Golden Crunch (12 x 225g €2.60) and Oat’ems Milk Chocolate Enrobed Oat Biscuit (12 x 230g, RRP €2.60) are distinctly different to what’s currently in the market. All four SKUs are baked using pure Irish butter and Irish oats.

“After the very positive consumer and trade reaction to our cookie range, East Coast Bakehouse continue to bring new news and innovation to the biscuit category to help drive category growth and add value to our retail partners”, commented Daragh Monahan, Commercial Director.
