East Coast Bakehouse is delighted to be part of Bord Bia’s Origin Green Programme – the world’s first national food sustainability programme.
We’re also committed to ensuring that we are a sustainable producer, taking care to develop our processes, sourcing policies and ways of doing business that have minimal impact on our environment. We’re working with Bord Bia to implement the Origin Green Programme, aiming to deliver real improvements in how we reduce waste, improve our use of energy and generally do our bit for the environment.
We are thrilled to be have four of our tasty biscuits shortlisted for the Blas na hEireann Irish Foods Awards. Baked using pure Irish butter and Irish oats our biscuits are going down a treat with consumers and now they are a firm favourite of the expert taste panels of Blas na hEireann.

Our Milk Choc Chunk cookie as well as its Milk Chocolate enrobed twin are both shortlisted as well as our Oat’em Milk Chocolate Enrobed Oat Biscuit and our delightful Crunch’em Milk Chocolate Enrobed Butter Crunch.
Blas na hEireann, The Irish Food Awards is the biggest competition for quality Irish produce on the island of Ireland. Over 2,500 products were entered into the 2016 competition in over 100 food and drink categories.
East Coast Bakehouse has been awarded RSPO certification, this is part of our core commitment to sustainability and meeting retail partner requirements.
“Ensuring that we source the right ingredients for our customers is an important element in what we do”, commented Daragh Monahan, Commercial Director, “sustainable palm oil is not only demanded by our retail-partners, but it’s the right to do for a progressive and forward-looking company like East Coast Bakehouse”.

The goal of RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) is a not-for-profit that unites stakeholders from the 7 sectors of the palm oil industry to develop and implement global standards for sustainable palm oil. The RSPO has more than 3,000 members worldwide who represent all links along the palm oil supply chain. They have committed to produce, source and/or use sustainable palm oil certified by the RSPO.
As part of East Coast Bakehouse’s commitment to sustainability and meeting retail partner requirements, we are delighted to be UTZ certified for the sourcing of cocoa.

UTZ is committed to creating a better, more sustainable world. It is the largest program for coffee and cocoa and has certification schemes in other commodities including (herbal) tea, rooibos and hazelnuts. The UTZ certified label features on over 20,000 different products across 135 countries.
East Coast Bakehouse has obtained a BRC AA (British Retail Consortium) grade following a recent audit. The AA grade is the highest grade that can be issued and represents East Coast Bakehouses’ commitment to the implementation of best practices and process improvements relating to the production, storage and distribution of our products.

East Coast Bakehouse is delighted to be attending Bloom in the Park this June Bank Holiday Weekend (1st June – 5th June). Come by and visit us at our stand in the Love Irish Food marquee (beside the Cooking demonstration in the food village) where you can sample and buy our delicious biscuits and cookies – all lovingly baked, using pure Irish butter, in Drogheda.
This is the 11th year of Bloom and there are wonderful show gardens, food stalls and cookery demonstrations to visit, as well as lots of fun things to keep the kids occupied.
Every day we will be giving you a chance to sample our biscuits and by giving us your views, you will be in with a chance to win a wonderful picnic hamper.

On Friday 19th May, East Coast Bakehouse opened its doors to 20 lucky winners who were treated to an afternoon of baking, tasting and sampling.
The group were welcomed by our Director of Marketing & Innovation and Dragon’s Den Investor, Alison Cowzer. A brief factory tour with brought the group back to our Innovation Centre for some of our yummy biscuits were enjoyed.
East Coast Bakehouse’s New Product Development Manager, Gemma Flynn, also provided some baking secrets before taking our consumers through a taste test of some biscuits she’s working on.
As one of the lucky winners told us “many thanks for the most enjoyable day on Friday. We really loved today and of course the biscuits. Cathy was the icing on the cake for me. She really knows her subject.”

East Coast Bakehouse welcomed Drogheda’s finest youngest innovators to our Bakehouse on Friday 12th May, with twenty shortlisted projects from the original 100 applications presented on the day.
“I am extremely impressed by the innovation on display today across all three categories. The standard is very high, and I can see how the judges had an extremely difficult process to pick the winners. Based on the level of innovation displayed, Drogheda’s future is very bright”, commented Alison Cowzer, our Director of Marketing & Innovation and Dragon’s Den investor.
The overall winner was Blathnaid Murphy, a student at Our Lady’s College Greenhills, who impressed judges with her business, “Daisy’s Pawsome Bowties”. Blathnaid, at twelve years of age, is the youngest winner of the DYI competition.
Prizes were also awarded in each of the three categories (Science/Technology, Business, and Social Enterprise) for both individual and team entries. This is the fourth year of the awards which focus on all aspects of Innovation and the second year the final has been held in East Coast Bakehouse’s Innovation Centre.
