East Coast Bakehouse are proud to announce that we have achieved Origin Green membership. Alison Cowzer – co-founder of East Coast Bakehouse said “ as a new biscuit manufacturing business we are committed to embedding sustainability in everything we do. We look forward to collaborating with others in the food industry to achieve better outcomes for our customers, our local communities and for the environment”

To achieve Origin Green accreditation, East Coast Bakehouse had to show sustainability timelines and targets, which were then verified to an independent standard. Included in the plan were commitments to sustainable sourcing, environmentally friendly operations, and a range of community initiatives

Bord Bia CEO Tara Mc Carthy said, “I am delighted to welcome East Coast Bakehouse as a verified member of the Origin Green programme. The company now joins nearly 280 other Irish food and drink producers committed to environmental, social and economic sustainability targets. Origin Green provides Irish companies with an infrastructure with which to measure and improve their sustainability performance, at a time when the world needs to produce more food with less resources.”

Employing a team of 45 at our Bakehouse in Drogheda, East Coast Bakehouse bake a range of biscuits using Irish butter and Irish Oats and now stocked in all major retailers nationwide.
